Have you ever awakened to find your heart heavy, but you don’t know why? That was me the other morning. Sitting up, legs dangling over the side of the bed, with eyelids barely letting in the light of day, I realized my heart was full of unrest and sadness. For one split second I tried to shake it off, but then the Lord reminded me to pray, either lifting up whoever it was that needed prayer, or to ask Him why I was feeling that way. When I did, these words from Psalm 42:11 began to run through my head.
“Why are you cast down, O my soul?
And why are you disquieted within me?”
Looking up that Scripture, the remainder of that verse while seeming to jump out at me, also quieted my heart.
“Hope in God:
For I shall yet praise Him,
The help of my countenance and my God.”
In spite of what we have faced in 2020 or 2021, as we open the door to 2022, I pray your year will be filled with the Faith, Hope, and Love of God that will give you His Courage and His Strength in the days ahead. I pray your eyes will be heavenward, and as you drink in the Lord’s Presence, I pray you will “…be filled with all the fullness of God.” Ephesians 3:23b, nkjv.
“The Lord bless you and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.”
Numbers 6:24-26 nkjv
Happy New Year!
With love,
