“The LORD is my shepherd;
I shall not want.”
Psalm 23:1, esv
I don’t know about you, but these past few days have felt overwhelmingly heavy. As if trying to make it through thick mud wearing flip flops, taking that next step or even the next breath has felt almost impossible.
If you are like me, you know that God is with you and trusting Him while walking through these moments is of utmost importance. But one particular morning I could barely lift my head, much less my heart. Thanksgiving and praise for the Lord felt as if they were nowhere to be found.
As I tried to stumble forward in my quiet time with the Lord, Psalm 23 came to mind. These verses—like a soothing salve—began to quiet my battered heart, taking my eyes off of all that was swirling around me and bringing into focus the One who is in control. The One who loves me so much more than I can possibly understand. Jesus.
As I read, the Lord impressed on my heart to begin each verse with the words, Thank You. I pray that as you read His words, they will soak deep into your heart and will bless you as they did mine.
Thank You, Lord, — You are my shepherd.
Thank You, that I shall not want.
Thank You, Lord, that You make me lie down in green pastures.
Thank You, that You lead me beside the waters of rest.
Thank You, Lord, that—You restore my soul.
Thank You, that You lead me in paths of righteousness
For Your name’s sake.
Thank You, Lord, that even though I walk through the valley of deep darkness,
I will fear no evil,
For You are with me.
Thank You —Your rod and Your staff comfort me.
Thank You, Lord, that You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
Thank You that You anoint my head with oil.
Thank You—my cup overflows.
Thank You, Lord, that goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.
Thank You, that I shall dwell in Your house, Lord, forever.
The Lord is with us. He has promised to never leave or forsake us. (See Hebrews 13:5.) I pray this truth will grab hold of our hearts, filling us with His faith that is so much more than we could ever imagine or think. (See 1 Corinthians 2:9.)
In His love,
Kimberly
Beautifully written, Kim. I identify with the heaviness of heart. This is a word in season for sure. Thank you. ❤️
