And Yet There Is Hope

One day last week, while Jerry and I were sitting on our front porch in the chill of the early morning, the wind began to blow. Gentle, yet at the same time strangely strong, those breezes, rustling the green leaves of the newly budded trees in patterns and waves we had not seen before, ushered in a freshness that seemed to speak of a hope that was to come. We sat, mesmerized.

In the past four months, people worldwide have been treading water to keep afloat of what has been happening. Living with more questions than answers, and multiple opinions that have flipped us upside down, it has felt as if we were walking and living on shifting sand.

And yet there is hope…

  • In the hands of a stranger caring for someone who is desperately ill.
  • In the gift that lifts a burden.
  • In a friend that holds someone who is dying.

When the darkest night gives way to day, hope rises. When all seems to be lost, it is suddenly there. Whispering to us, what is just on the horizon, it stills the most faint of heart and quiets our fear.

Hope is eternal.
For it comes from God.

The hopelessness we feel, Jesus can turn into newfound joy.
For He promises to give us beauty for ashes.
Isaiah 61:3

He is always with those of us who belong to Him. He will never leave or forsake us.

“Jesus IS the FAITH that lives in our hearts.
He IS the HOPE we need.
He IS LOVE that we cannot ever begin to fully put our arms around.
… God’s perfect love casts all fear completely away.” *
